NOTICE
This is to inform all
students that Learning Resource Center (Library) is arranging on-demand library
orientation for B. Tech/M. Tech/M.Sc/PhD students.
Students who have missed library
orientation due to late registration or any other reasons may register their
names, along with preferred date to have library orientation, on the register
available at Library Circulation Counter. You may record your preference as per the
schedule given below:

familiarize students with the library Facility, Resources and Services.
Ø How to Log-on
to Library WEB-OPAC and how to make use of it.
Ø To acquaint
students with digital library or other quality resources available online.
Ø How to
locate needed resources in the library collection.
Ø Know where
to go for assistance from the library staff.
This program is beneficial to all new
students.

Access to J-Gate information portal at JUIT
Access to J-Gate information portal at JUIT
Dear All,
We would like to inform you that all e-resources subscribed by the JUIT are now collectively accessible at single information gateway, i.e. J-Gate Science & Technology portal. You can search any terms/topics at J-Gate portal and it will display results (articles) from all the e-resources (namely ACM, ASCE, ASTM, IEEE, IET and Springer) subscribed by us. It provides single point of access to search and download full-texts of all 2046 peer-reviewed e-journals subscribed by JUIT along with over 4500 e-journals of science, engineering & technology available under open access mode.
J-Gate can be accessed from https://jgateplus.com and available over IP Range of the University. Initially, it will be available on trial basis till 31st March 2019 before actual subscription gets started. The URL of the same will soon be updated at http://www.juit.ac.in/lrc/eResources.php.
A brief introductory and help guide is attached herewith that will help you in exploring the J-Gate.

HAPPY LIBRARIANS DAY
Librarians Day in India
12th August is celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in India
Dr. S R Ranganathan (1892-1972)
Ranganathan, born on 9 August 1892, came from a moderate
background in British-ruled India. He was born in the small town of Shiyali (now known as Sirkazhi), in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India.
Ranganathan began his professional life as a mathematician; he earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in mathematics from Madras Christian College in his home province, and then went on to earn a teaching license. His lifelong goal was to teach mathematics, and he was successively a member of the mathematics faculties at universities in Mangalore, Coimbatore and Madras (all within the span of five years). As a mathematics professor, he published a handful of papers, mostly on the history of mathematics. His career as an educator was somewhat hindered by a handicap of stammering (a difficulty Ranganathan gradually overcame in his professional life). The Government of India awarded Padmashri to Dr. S.R. Ranganathan for valuable contributions to Library Science.

August 12th is being celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in India, in remembrance of national professor of library science, Dr S R Ranganathan (1892-
